2025 Premier's Reading Challnge

A robot made out of books with text Premier's Reading Challenge

Reading is an invaluable skill that is necessary in all walks of life. Thomas Acres Public School are dedicated to the reading development of all our students. Reading does not require skill alone, valuing reading and reading for enjoyment is an important part. Therefore, we support the 2025 Premier's Reading Challenge, which is now open.

If you would like your child to participate, there is information available to access, together with BOOK LISTS online.

We have included a READING LOG for your child to enter in the books that they read. If you lose or damage this list, you can download another one from the PRC website, or request another from Mrs Kous, or the library.

It is important to note:

  • Infants Students (Kindergarten to Year Two) = 30 books - can read independently, share the reading or be read to.
  • Primary Students (Years 3 to 6) = 20 books to be read independently.
  • Only TWO books from any 'series' can be included.
  • Please note that the PRC number must come from the Premier's Reading Challenge Booklist (not from the back of the book). Most books in our library now have a sticker at the back of the book indicating the PRC number.
  • The completed book list needs to be returned to the library or Mrs Kous (2K) by Friday 8TH AUGUST 2025. We will remind you of this cut-off date again later in the year. Mrs Kous will finalise and submit all the PRC entries. Certificates will be presented sometime in Term 4.

If you have any questions or issues regarding the Premier's Reading Challenge, including access to the site, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Kous.

We wish your child all the best in the challenge and hope that they ENJOY READING A VARIETY OF BOOKS.

Mrs Karen Kous
