Visit Moving to high school for detailed information on the Expression of Interest process. There is also a short video of the process for moving in Year 7. Online link available from 3 March 2025 to 28 March 2025 To enrol your child in Year 7 for 2025, you will need to complete an Expression of Interest for Year 6 to Year 7 transition. The Expression of Interest (EOI) lets you indicate which school(s) you would like your child to attend in Year 7. The EOI process is available online from 3 March 2025. Please note: The EOI closes on 28 March 2025. Please make sure you submit the EOI before that date. IMPORTANT: if you miss this deadline, you will need to apply directly to your chosen High School. It is also important to note that the residential address you provide on the EOI is the same as the residential address we currently have on our system. After you submit an EOI and it has been assessed, your child will be offered a place at a high school. If you are unsure whether they will be attending a NSW Government school (you’ve applied for a private school, or you are moving interstate), we ask that you still complete an EOI Placement not required application and follow up with your school once a decision has been made. The online process will guide you through your options and collect the information required to make the process as smooth as possible. For parents/carers who are not able to complete an application online, a paper EOI form can be collected from the school office. For more information about moving to high school, visit Going to a public school. NAPLAN (Years 3 and 5) - Writing

Time

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. It is a nationwide measure through which parents/carers, teachers, schools, education authorities, governments and the broader community can determine whether or not young Australians are developing the literacy and numeracy skills that provide the critical foundation for other learning and for their productive and rewarding participation in the community. NAPLAN results allow parents/carers and educators to see how students are progressing in literacy and numeracy over time – individually, as part of their school community, and against national standards. The tests support monitoring and evaluating of the performance of schools and school systems in these fundamental capabilities. They also provide schools, states and territories with information about how education approaches are working, areas to be prioritised for improvement, and those schools requiring support in the teaching and learning of literacy and numeracy. The results can assist teachers by providing additional information to support their professional judgement about students’ levels of literacy and numeracy attainment and progress. NAPLAN tests are one aspect of each school’s assessment and reporting process and do not replace the extensive, ongoing assessments made by teachers about each student’s performance. Each teacher will have the best insight into their students’ educational progress. Parents/carers can use NAPLAN reports, along with other school assessment reports, to discuss their child’s strengths and areas for improvement with their teacher. NAPLAN results do not measure overall school quality. The assessments are undertaken nationwide, every year. From 2008 to 2022, NAPLAN tests were held in May. From 2023, education ministers agreed NAPLAN tests will be held in March. NAPLAN is made up of tests in the 4 areas (or ‘domains’) of: Wednesday, 12 March - Writing Thursday, 13 March - Reading Monday, 17 March - Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation (Language Conventions) Tuesday, 18 March - Numeracy See the NAPLAN infographic (PDF 810 KB) for useful information on NAPLAN tests and benefits. To see the look and feel of the tests and types of questions, visit the online assessment Public demonstration site. Find past NAPLAN paper tests and answers on the ACARA website.

Summer PSSA Gala Day No.1

Date

14 March

Time

9:00 AM-2:55 PM

Location

Various sporting fields

PSSA Gala Day No.1 (selected students only) As part of the PDHPE syllabus, students will learn how to maintain a happy and active lifestyle. By allowing your child to attend the primary Gala Day they gain the opportunity to enjoy sports and live a healthy lifestyle. PSSA (Primary Schools Sports Association) organises Gala days to allow students to compete against local schools. Each term, schools have the opportunity to participate in three (3) Gala days. They are full days commencing at approximately 10:00 am and concluding at approximately 2:00 pm. During the day students play a total of three/four games. See the Information sheet below. As a condition of being selected for a Gala Day team, you and your child must sign a contract in order to be accepted into the team - see Gala day contract below. Your child will be participating in training sessions held at Thomas Acres Reserve. Due to this, students will be required to walk to and from the Thomas Acres Reserve during Friday sport sessions. There will be four (4) summer gala days in total--two (2) in Term 1 and two (2) in Term 4. The full cost to participate in all four (4) is $50, but to make things easier, we're only asking for $12.50 per gala day. This way, if a day is cancelled due to weather, you won't be paying for something that doesn't go ahead. Summary Gala Days are listed below: Gala No.1 ($12.50) - Friday, 14 March 2025 (Term 1 - Week 7) Gala No.2 ($12.50) - Friday, 4 April 2025 (Term 1 - Week 10) Gala No.3 ($12.50) - Friday, 24 October 2025 (Term 4 - Week 2) Gala No.4 ($12.50) - Friday, 7 November 2025 (Term 4 - Week 4) If a Gala Day is cancelled due to weather or other unexpected events, it won't be rescheduled. We need to give bus companies at least 24 hours' notice to cancel, or we still have to pay for the buses. Because of this, we may not be able to offer a credit. Thanks for your understanding! Concussion acknowledgement I acknowledge that if my child has sustained a concussion in the lead-up to the event, I must provide medical clearance to the school or the supervising teacher prior to competition commencing. I understand that if my child sustains a concussion or suspected concussion during a NSW Department of Education sporting event, they will be removed from competition until medical clearance is provided to the supervising teacher.
